Auckland – Bay Of islands DAY 1

The adventure will begin in Auckland as we make our way up to the Bay of Islands. Stopping at various spots along the way, you will be able to take in the in the beautiful scenery of Northland. You will get a chance to kick back and relax on your first day and get to know your fellow travellers. Auckland, with its lush bushlands and pristine beaches is the perfect place for your spectacular adventure to begin.

Bay of islands – paihia DAY 2

On day two you will have the opportunity to explore the main tourist town of the Bay of Islands, Paihia. Famous for its ‘Hole in the Rock’, Paihia is an exquisite town with plenty of things to see and do. There are endless activities; you can kayak, swim with dolphins, skydive, paraglide, snorkel, water-ski and much more. While in the Bay of Islands you can also visit the Waitangi grounds which has a lot of historical and cultural significance.  Waitangi is where the Treaty was signed all those years ago.

Paihia – Auckland DAY 3

From Paihia we’ll travel back to Auckland to explore a bit more of NZ’s largest city. During the day, we’ll head on over to Waiheke island, only a 35-minute ferry away, Waiheke is Auckland’s favourite day retreat. We’ll spend the day exploring its sandy beaches and tasting wine at Waiheke’s finest wineries. After a fun day on the island, we’ll be back in time for you to let loose and back enjoy Auckland’s bustling nightlife.

Auckland – Coromandel DAY 4

You will spend the day exploring the Coromandel area and visit Cathedral Cove, one of NZ’s most insta-worthy locations. You will be shocked by the unbelievable beauty of this exquisite spot. You can take pictures under the impressive rock archways, go for a swim in its turquoise waters or enjoy a walk along its sandy shores.

Coromandel – hot water beach DAY 5

On our second day on the Coromandel, you will get to experience one of its main attractions, Hot Water Beach. Visitors flock to Hot Water Beach every year to dig a thermal spa in the sand and enjoy the natural hot springs. We will spend the day at this beach relaxing in the warmth of its hot springs, and when you get tired of soaking, there are plenty of local cafes and art galleries to entertain you.

Coromandel – Rotorua DAY 6

After breakfast, we’ll journey to Rotorua. Rich in Maori history, Rotorua is famous around the world thanks to the geothermal activity underground that causes spectacular geysers and hot springs. There is plenty to do here, from relaxing in a spa to exploring the Redwood Forest and Zorbing down a hill, it’s up to you. If you are looking for your Lord of the Rings fix then we can visit the world famous Hobbiton Movie Set.

Rotorua – Taupo DAY 7

Today we leave Rotorua behind for Taupo. Its most popular attraction, Lake Taupo sits within the crater of the Taupo Volcano – thankfully no longer active, it makes a thrilling ride on a jet boat. Skydiving in Taupo can offer you stunning views of the Tongariro National Park.

Taupo – wellington DAY 8

On our journey down to Wellington, we’ll pass the North Island’s largest volcanoes; Tongariro and Ruapehu, where we will undoubtedly stop for photo opportunities of this spectacular view. There is no shortage of things to do in our quirky capital city, you can visit Wellington’s funky bars and cafes or the Te Papa museum, and for those Lord of the Rings fans, there’s the Weta Cave museum where you can get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of the film. However, no trip to Wellington is complete without a ride on the iconic Cable Car, which ends at the beautiful Wellington Botanic Garden.

wellington – Abel Tasman DAY 9

Arguably New Zealand’s most beautiful National Park, Abel Tasman is full of exciting things to do. This little piece of paradise can be explored a number of different ways; kayaking, water-taxi, walking or by catamaran. After lunch, we’ll spend the rest of our day kayaking and exploring the beautiful beach. Sea kayaking through the marine reserve will allow us to try and spot some of the cheeky local dolphins or the fur seals sunning themselves on the rocks.

Abel Tasman DAY 10

After brekkie, you can spend the day sunbathing and enjoying the beach or join us on a hike and discover why we think this National Park has some of NZ’s best beaches.  If you’re lucky you may be able to see some of NZ’s exciting native wildlife; such as the Tui and the Tuatara.

Abel tasman – punakaiki DAY 11

After a brief stop at the stunning Nelson Lakes, we carry on our journey to Punakaiki. Situated on the edge of Paparoa national park, Punakaiki is a quaint little community that hosts the famous Pancake Rocks. We will be doing the Blowhole walk around Pancake Rocks. The irregular limestone rocks are a unique attraction in the area, made even better by the natural blowholes. You can enjoy a lunch in one of the cafes and a stroll around the village before we make our way to our accommodation for the night before watching the sunset across the water.

punakaiki – Franz Josef DAY 12

After a mid-morning getaway, we continue down New Zealand’s west coast, stopping for Lunch in Greymouth and passing through the greenstone capital of New Zealand, Hokitika. We then carry on our journey arriving at Franz Josef – the gateway to Glacier country. It wouldn’t be a Wild Kiwi tour without seeing one, so time permitting, we’ll pop into the National Kiwi centre after arrival.

Franz Josef  DAY 13

After breakfast, it’s ice o’clock. We’ll hit the Franz Josef Glacier where you can hike, helicopter, or both. These stunning formations made over thousands of years, or as Maori legend has it, from a lost lover’s tears, will have you weeping with joy. The hue, changes from turquoise to deepest blue as you hover above, or hike across them. Afterwards, celebrate your cool adventure with some ice in your drink. Along with the glacier hike, there are a range of other exciting activities such as quad biking along the river bed, kayaking and of course sky-diving.

Franz Josef – Queenstown DAY 14

We will arrive at Queenstown later in the day for a welcome BBQ. You can then spend the rest of the night enjoying yourselves at any of the local bars and clubs. Being a backpacker hotspot, Queenstown has a rich supply of bars to check out, the Minus 5° Ice Bar being a must.

Milford sound overnight cruise DAY 15

Today we will arrive at the UNESCO-listed Milford Sound, possibly the most picturesque place in New Zealand. We will explore the awe-inspiring spot on a stunning overnight cruise where you will be able to experience its incredible scenery and abundant wildlife up close.

Milford Sound – Queenstown DAY 16

Once we’re back on solid ground, its time to go back to Queenstown for a final time. We’ll walk up Bob’s Peak for one last look at Queenstown’s spectacular views, or take the gondola up to the luge for one last ride. After all that, kick back with a beer, drop into a party or devour NZ’s most famous burger – the Fergburger!

Queenstown – Adventure Day DAY 17

Cure that hangover with a heavy dose of adrenaline, today is the day you are free to do any of the hair-raising adventure activities available in Queenstown. If you’re ever going to skydive or Bungy jump, Queenstown is the place to do it. Blow your mind with NevisBungy, or Queenstown’s famous Shotover Canyon swing. Or opt for a tamer option, such as luging at Bob’s Peak or kayaking through the chasms of the striking Dart River.

QUeenstown – Mt Cook DAY 18

On to Mt. Cook, the highest peak in the Southern Alps and New Zealand for that matter. We will spend our time here exploring the Tasman glacier on a tour that gets you so close that you can reach out and touch the century-old ice crystals on the floating icebergs.

Mt Cook – Christchurch DAY 19

When we’ve finished exploring Mt. Cook we will head for Christchurch. This resilient city has survived devastating earthquakes, yet retains its eclectic vibrant culture. Nicknamed ‘the garden city’ Christchurch is full of beautiful botanic gardens and eccentric shops to explore as well as more adventurous activities. For those after some of Christchurch’s more intrepid activities, you can hike or mountain bike your way through Christchurch’s picturesque landscape at Christchurch Adventure Park.

Christchurch – Kaikoura DAY 20

From Christchurch, we will carry on to Kaikoura, a coastal town known for its thriving whale watching industry abundance of sea life. The dramatic, rugged cliffs of the coastal town are impressive to see, and just below them the rock platforms on the sea shore; are home to a local New Zealand fur seal colony. Whale watching is especially good in this area and we highly recommend you go while we’re here.

Kaikoura – Wellington DAY 21

Situated in the heart of NZ’s wine trail, is our next stop in Wellington, Martinborough. Packed into Martinborough are over 20 different wineries for us to explore on our way back through Wellington. This charming little town is home to some of the best Pinot Noir in the country and excellent restaurants to go with it, so make sure to bring your appetite.

Wellington – Waitomo DAY 22

In the morning, we will depart Wellington once more and head to Waitomo. Famous for its astonishing glow-worm caves, Waitomo is a must-see for any traveller. We will venture into the cave on a boat that will glide silently through the cave as you gaze up at the unmistakable glimmer of the bioluminescent little creatures. Looking for more of an adventure? Why not try the Legendary Black Water Rafting and explore the caves on your very own inflatable tube!

Waitomo – Raglan DAY 23

Next on our list is Raglan, an enchanting little beachside town with black sand beaches and impressive surf. Manu Bay, a favourite for local surfers was actually featured in cult hit movie Endless Summer. We will enjoy a day stand up paddling around the gorgeous turquoise waters of raglan and surfing its world-famous long left-hand break.

Raglan – Auckland DAY 24

The last leg of our journey will be back to Auckland, where we will arrive just after lunch. Sadly, our journey together will have come to an end and you’ll have to part ways hopefully having made some lifelong friends and memories you’ll never forget.
