The Kapellbrucke, literal meaning Chapel Bridge, is a covered wooden footbridge in the centre of Lucerne and spans the River Reuss. Housing a number of interior paintings dating back to the 17th century, the Chapel Bridge is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe.
Your short 200-metre stroll along the Kapellbrucke bridge takes in the view of Lucerne city whilst you can view some of the 25 paintings dating back to the 14th century. Whilst many of the original paintings were damaged in the infamous fire of 1993, some original's still remain.
