Located in Australia’s New South Wales, Byron Bay is a coastal town renowned for its surfing, good food, beautiful beaches and an eclectic mix of characters from trendy millennials to aging hippies. If you are looking for a natural and cultural paradise, you’re sure to fall in love with Byron Bay.

With that in mind, you’ll need to know how to make the most of your time with the best things to do in Byron Bay. With Australia being the most Instagram-worthy country in the world (FACT) you’ll certainly need a few snaps from this coastal town for the feed.

In this post, we’ve got the lowdown on how to spend 24 hours in Byron Bay and how to make the most of your time there, including our top picks for eateries and adventures.

Start the day with a sunrise walk to Cape Byron Lighthouse

Wakey wakey, it’s time to get your body moving and take a hike to catch the sunrise. This 3.7km trail will take you 1-2 hours there and back, depending on how long you spend getting those sunrise shots for the ‘gram at the Lighthouse itself. Guaranteed a front-row seat to spectacular views over the Tasman Sea, this sunrise experience is one that’s well worth getting out of bed for at Australia’s most easterly point. Give yourself a solid 30-45 minutes to reach the lighthouse, before the sun is due to rise, to scout the best spot and enjoy watching as the colours of the sky change.

Little Wategos is the best place to watch the sunset or enjoy the sunset colours in Byron Bay. Settle down in this little bay, located at Cape Byron, with a blanket and a few bevvies for stunning views of the sunset and the chance to see the colours of dusk thrown across the sky.

Head into town for a bite to eat & live music
