It’s always this time of year when everyone starts talking about the ooey-gooey-soppy topics of love, romance, and relationships. This is all well and good for our loved-up friends who have their V day plans set in stone, but what about those of us wondering how to spend the day of love as a single pringle?

Though many think of the big V day as a celebration of love between two people, we’d rather think of it as a celebration of love – full stop. So, what better way to spend the day than celebrating self-love and, of course, our one true love; travel!

To show you how epic being single on V day really can be, we’ve collated five of our favourite solo travel destinations where you can achieve self-love and adventure this Valentine’s Day. So, raise a glass to a lifetime of travel, self-love and amazing adventures, and keep scrolling to pick your next solo travel destination.

Queenstown, New Zealand

There are plenty of ways to get your heart pumping on the big V day and one of the best has got to be visiting the adventure capital of the world. Ever wanted to jetboat through epic canyons or throw yourself off a ledge with a bucket on your head – yup, you really can do it all in Queenstown.

Take your pick at how you want to seek your thrills, with everything from skydiving to funyaking (what even?!) on offer. Ain’t nobody got time to think about V day with so much adrenaline pumping through their veins.

Not only is Queenstown jam-packed with epic adrenaline activities to try but it also happens to be home to some incredibly beautiful scenery. Spend your afternoon after your adrenaline activities strolling the lakeside before heading out for an unforgettable pub crawl at the local bars.

Basically, Queenstown has got to be one of the most exciting places to go on Valentine’s Day for a thrill-seeking solo traveller. So, if Queenstown isn’t already on your solo travel bucket list, then you should probably go and add it on, like, now!

Instead, find yourself falling head over heels with the capital of Germany as you indulge in its lively culture, cutting edge architecture and drool-worthy eats.

And don’t worry, the fun isn’t over as the sun starts to set – if anything, it’s only just begun! Considered to be the premier city for nightlife and all-around craziness, the party never truly stops in Berlin. So, let loose and dance the night away with an “anything goes” attitude as you spend the night discovering underground clubs hidden throughout the city.

Being surrounded by the epic mountain scenery with an endless supply of cheese fondue is sure to make you forget all about the holiday and instead connect with the beauty that is nature (and cheese). If you want to get the adrenaline pumping, then why not experience a breathtaking moment skydiving in the alps. No doubt you’ll find yourself screaming the lyrics of James Blunt at the top of your lungs: “(Switzerland) you’re beautiful, it’s true!”

Cairns, Australia

Located in the most Insta-worthy country in the world, Cairns is the perfect solo travel destination to disconnect from the world and fall in love with nature.

What better way to disconnect with the love-obsessed world on V day than to explore a totally unique world? Get up close with sea creatures and wonderous corals as you experience some of the best snorkeling on earth at the world-famous Great Barrier Reef. Or if, like us, you love chasing waterfalls (sorry TLC) then head to Ableton Tablelands to experience some of the most beautiful, cascading waterfalls. There are also some epic natural rockslides you spend the afternoon testing out!

If you’re looking for a tropical escape, February also happens to be the perfect month to explore Australia as you’ll experience the peak of Aussie’s epic summer. No one loves their solo travel as much as the Aussie’s so why not embark on a solo adventure on their turf!

Go there: 8-Day Queensland Classic, 14-Day Absolute Aussie

 Hvar, Croatia

Are you surprised? Croatia is a dream destination for any solo traveller looking to Hvar great time (see what we did there 😜) so, of course, it made it onto our list!

If you’re looking to chase summer for your next solo travel adventure, then Hvar is the Island for you. Named the sunniest Island in Croatia, there’s no better way to escape reality than by indulging in the fantastical architecture, magnificent coastline and fabulous wines of Hvar, Croatia.

One of our favourite ways to experience Croatia is on a sailing holiday, and if your dream holiday involves making lifelong friends and memories, then we think you’ll love it too. Spend your V day soaking up some Mediterranean rays onboard your own skippered yacht, floating around in your inflatable pineapple with a G&T in hand, before dancing the night away amongst Hvar’s epic nightlife. We’re not sure about you, but we think this sounds like the perfect way to spend Valentine’s Day.
