Your day begins with a convenient pickup in central Auckland. Settle into your seat in our premium minibus and meet your local guide—someone who’s not only well-versed in New Zealand's natural and cultural heritage but also passionate about sharing it. As we leave Auckland behind, your guide will introduce the route and point out notable landmarks.
Waikato Rural Landscapes
We travel through the heart of New Zealand’s Waikato region, where lush green farmland, rolling hills, and picturesque countryside create a stunning backdrop. Along the way, we'll pass through charming rural towns and rich agricultural landscapes before arriving in Rotorua, a region famous for its geothermal wonders, and vibrant Māori culture.
Te Puia - Te Ra Guided Experience
On arrival in Rotorua, we will discover the living legacy of Te Puia with the Te
Rā Guided Experience. Discover Te Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley –
featuring bubbling mud pools and the world-famous Pōhutu Geyser. You will
also have time to explore New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute – home to
traditional carvers and weavers and the Kiwi Conservation Centre to see our
national icon close up.
Hobbiton
After departing Rotorua, we will journey through the picturesque Waikato countryside to the world-famous Hobbiton Movie Set. Upon arrival, there will be time to purchase lunch at the on-site café before the tour begins.
During the 2.5-hour guided experience, we will explore the lush rolling hills of the Shire, visit iconic Hobbit Holes, and hear fascinating behind-the-scenes stories from the filming of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. The tour also includes time to soak up the charming village atmosphere and enjoy a complimentary beverage at The Green Dragon Inn.
Return journey to Auckland
After the tour, rejoin your guide for the journey home. Sit back, relax and enjoy the view out the window and enjoy more of the region’s sweeping scenery, with comfort stops along the way.

For your comfort and convenience, we recommend bringing layered clothing to adapt to changing weather, along with sturdy walking shoes. Packing a water bottle, sunscreen, and sunglasses is wise, as New Zealand’s sun can be strong, even on cooler days.
While many places accept cards, a small amount of cash can come in handy for local purchases. And of course, bring a rain jacket or windbreaker as New Zealand's weather is famously unpredictable!
